How we calculate it
What you enter
- Area (m²)
- Adhesive (kg/m²)
What to watch out for
The adhesive-dab method only works on a flat, sound substrate. Bigger deviations need a metal frame.
Formula
boards = ⌈ Area × 1.10 ÷ 2.4 ⌉
gypsum adhesive = ⌈ Area × Adhesive ÷ 25 ⌉ bags
The site's engine is a 1:1 port of the Android app's code.
Frequently asked questions
How many boards does 1 m² of wall take?
The calculator divides the area by the area of one board and rounds up to whole boards. The adhesive is worked out separately, from the usage per square metre.
When can boards not be dot-and-dabbed?
Gypsum adhesive only works on a flat, sound background. Where the wall is badly out of true a metal frame is needed instead.
